Kuyichi Archive Clearance
All Fashion brands know you want to keep your stock levels as low as possible. Doing seasonal sales is a very solid solution to get rid of stock. Unlike most fashion brands Kuyichi has a no-seasonal sales policy.
So what do you do with your old stock? That’s right, have an archive clearance. At first, most colleagues were quite hesitant because of the no-seasonal sale policy and the thought that as a brand we’re not abiding by our own rules. We decided to create a blog to explain why we’re doing an archive clearance and have several rules.

Archive Clearance
Since 2016, we have stopped practising seasonal sales. You won’t see us discounting our products at the end of the season as products should maintain their value, no matter the season. We believe sales lead to unconscious purchases, force retailers to compromise their margins and drive the fashion industry to make more for less, season after season after season. But, with us not doing any sales for seven years now, we face some challenges. We’re here to explain our new solution.
Why we do a Kuyichi Archive Clearance
A part of our collection has been available for over three years and has yet to find its rightful owners. We must change this, as unsold clothing is a big issue and a waste of precious resources. Approximately one-third of all produced clothing worldwide ends up unsold and is likely to be incinerated or landfilled – practices we strongly oppose. To counter this, we are conducting a deep clean of our stocks through the Kuyichi Archive Clearance, giving our pure goods a chance to find their rightful owners and be worn and cherished.
Rules for our Archive Clearance styles
The Archive Clearance offers a range of discounted styles, from jeans to knitwear. As we have a no-sale policy that eliminates seasonal sales, we have some clear guidelines for the styles ending up in the Kuyichi Archive Clearance. The styles:
- have to be on offer for over two years, four full seasons;
- can not be part of our CORE collection; and
- often have incomplete size ranges.
One of the problems we face is that some sizes have sold out while others remain in stock. When we can not offer a full size range, it becomes challenging to offer it to our retailers. You will find those last remaining sizes in the Kuyichi Archive Clearance.
How the Archive Clearance makes Kuyichi more accessible
Our Kuyichi Archive Clearance also has benefits for you! We understand that sustainable fashion can be a big shift in mindset, where quality outweighs quantity and prices are higher. Through our Archive Clearance, we hope to make our brand more accessible to people starting their sustainable journey or those with limited budgets. It allows people to experience our fits and quality at a reduced price.
How our sale policy benefits retailers
Our commitment to avoiding seasonal sales is not only about maintaining the value of our products but also aims to support our retailers. By eliminating seasonal sales, retailers can sell their collections at normal prices, keep their margins and stay healthy as a company. Retailers often have a small window to sell their products at full price before brands offer discounts on their online shops. To further support our retailers, we offer our styles with a discount before they go to the Archive Clearance. We have to support each other if we want to build a healthy fashion industry.
